Our focus is on the fundamentals, believing in the effectiveness of meticulous research, technical ability, robust infrastructure and intelligent innovation.

We couple this with what we call ‘delivery, defined’; investment strategies that meet the needs of our clients and investors, delivered in a timely, transparent and accessible manner.

We find that rigorous, incisive thinking, combined with outstanding service, builds relationships that grow and prosper.

Our Approach

Since our inception in 2004, Cairn Capital has been committed to building a company, investments and relationships of which we can be proud.

  • We benefit from the extensive experience of our people to deliver the appropriate balance of focus on our core competencies: macro strategy; fundamental credit research; and structural and technical analysis.
  • We look to maintain our market position in order to optimise pricing, asset allocation and idea generation for the benefit of investors.
  • Our risk management is proactive, disciplined and pragmatic, using a robust and scalable infrastructure that we developed in-house.

Overall, we focus on building sustainable value for our investors and those we advise through a combination of technical expertise and service excellence.

A cairn is our symbol as well as our name. It stands as a marker, a hand-built from-the-ground-up approach to investing, the need for creativity, planning, coordination and hard work. It also stands for stability, and keeping our feet on the ground.

Our Team

With significant experience and expertise in asset management and advisory services, our strong, stable management team focuses on technical expertise, meticulous planning and client service. Our policy is to employ the best and the brightest in our industry and our highly qualified teams focus on building sustainable value for our investors and those we advise.

Responsibility

Giving something back

Cairn Capital wants to build a company of which we can be proud. Part of this involves investing in our responsibilities in a way that makes a real difference. Our Corporate Social Responsibility Programme has supported, amongst others, the following organisations and cultural events:

KIDS

KIDS empowers disabled children and young people and their families to get the most out of life – creating opportunities for them to take part in positive play, leisure, learning, employment, training and social activities.

KIDS seeks to change attitudes, working towards a vision in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations and enjoy their right to an inclusive community which supports them and their families.

London School of Economics

Cairn Capital has sponsored a programme of scholarships and has supported students taking higher degrees in Development Economics and Financial Market Infrastructure.

We have also sponsored and supported the LSE Business and Finance Summer School, a programme designed to encourage talented children from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue further education.

Magic Breakfast

Food for thought; Magic Breakfast is a breakfast club which aims to help schools give every child the right fuel for learning at the start of the school day.

Tiree Music Festival

The original idea for the Tiree Music Festival came from a desire to share this magical setting with visitors from far and wide.

Local boy Daniel Gillespie, musician with the band Skerryvore, found himself travelling to festivals around the world, sparking the thought that it would be great to have a similar event on Tiree to showcase both the island and the music he had grown up with. Daniel and fellow Tiree local Stewart MacLennan decided to make it happen.

Their vision was a two-day island adventure with live music at its heart – not one specific genre of music but everything from traditional to contemporary, established chart acts to breakthrough bands.

The result, thanks to the large army of volunteers and loyal supporters to give their backing along the way, was the annual Tiree Music Festival that has produced four successive sell-outs with a capacity crowd of 1600 in 2014 and an award for “Best Small Event” at the UK Event Awards”.
